Hi John, the 40 breeder has always been on of my favorite tanks, i love the depth it gives and the larger surface area.
Have you ever considered keeping North American Natives?? the blue spotted sunfish would be a great project for you, they stay small, and a group of 3-4 would be very interesting in that tank.

I have not considered any natives, but I am open to the idea. They look very interesting. I need to do a bit more research on them.
