**75 gallon Freshwater** New to aquariums.

Hello people, I am joining this forum in hopes to find out what I am doing right or wrong from people in my area. I am a new owner of a 75 Ga. tank.

3 weeks ago...started the water process, got everything put in. Gravel...check, decorations...check, Eheim 2217...check, 300watt heater..check. Water...check.

1 week passed...
Added 5 Red Mickey Mouse Platys...1 weeks time elapsed...all things going good.

Week 2
Added 4 more fish...1 Ballon Molly, 2 Sunburst Platys, 1 Blue Mickey Mouse Platy.

Week 3
Disaster strikes on day 2 of new fish...1 Sunburst Molly has ICH (Named her Broketail) ...deceased.

Since, I have raised water temp to 87°F & added 15 tablespoons of aquarium salt...Now on day 3 of recovery process...

Thats my intro story.

Been there a few times myself. I kept my aquarium at 80 and never saw it again. I think 87 might be a bit excessive

Thanks for the replies guys, 87°F is excessive based on what grounds? I have read in many places that 84-86 is target temperature. I actually got up to 88 and lowered it down, took a day, but it went down. How long do I have to hold a higher temp? In addition to that, what is an optimal temp to keep my tank at to minimize another occurrence? Advice?

I think when he said 87 is a bit high he ment on a regular basis for treating ick ya keep it up till its gone also AP quick cure worked very well for me with high temps on a regular basis i keep my tanks around 78-80

Update- Still cooking at 86 degrees, all spots are gone, however the 1 fish that was struggling the most has a good day then a bad day. fins clamped shut one day, the next...open and swimming fine. She started eating a little, but still visits the corners.

i dosed 5 days of quick cure. i followed the instructions on the back and i did a 80% water change on the 6th day and a 50% water change on the 7th day. i lost 75% of the fish with in the 1st days and only 4 of them survived. luckyly they were my favorite 4 individuals. My alpha male Angel and the Alpha male blue german ram.
