Damn, that's a big ol' pond! You should get in contact with "fish>girl", he's a member here and fellow pond enthusiast. No koi, but he has some awesome goldfish

Looking for to learn to build one soon. I try soon for 10x12 and 3 feet high pond above ground and I try use 4x4 treat wood. can not wait to see your design. Did you have insulation bottom and all side to prevent cold in winter time? (Because I will not raise Koi, want to raise some Peacock and Tropheus . It sound stupid but I will give a try)

Mine is 10x8x3 are you familiar with fish and pets unlimited mine is SIMILAR but I made it 100% stable and hopefully bow proof. I used 2x6s all around. At the bottom and around I do have plywood pressure treated. Sides I have moisture protection an the bottom has 2 layers of plywood with another layering for moisture. I didn't use any insulation cause it doesn't get that cold..

My opinion is, play it safe and spend the money now so you won't have to re build a couple years down the path. One mistake in the build could destroy it all. I used nail glue between woods and L brackets at places needed. 3 in screws all around. If you want it to be more safe don't build so high, if I could re do it id make it longer and wider instead of higher. 2 ft high MAX, I'd go for 12x12 and maybe larger.

On my project bottom I use plastic pallets (6 inch) and sheet insulation and then treat Plywood. on side 4by4 treat then sheet insulation and treat plywood. on filtration I will have 3 of 55gal barrel ( some lava rock , Pond matrix, filter pad.)

Oh you started already? Sounds good! Abuse the screws but not to much haha .. Sounds nice! Make sure you build it over lapping on corners. Not the other way..( side by side )
