Full Shot of the 55 gal nursery. I know, I suck at scaping, but I was given this entire rig and only had a little to work with. 2 Oscars, 2 Jack Dempseys, a Black Diamond, Red Jewel, and Candystripe
Pleco
Apollo, the smaller of the two Oscars. He's around 4 inches long.
The Queen of the castle, Queen Shiba. She's the biggest (5.5-6 inches) and the sweetest. Sometimes she lets me pet her.
Shiba and Apollo together. She's camera shy and hides behind him when she sees it.
Lecter, one of the three Red Jewels I have that were bred by my grandpa. They CANNOT stay together even though they have been their entire lives. I moved one to my other 55 with my baby oscar, and put Lecter and Ruby in the Nursery together. This guy bullied his sibling so bad that I had to move her to a 10 gal until I can get her somewhere more comfy.
The candystripe (can't get a solid L number) my grandpa bred and gave to me. Haven't named it yet because it would have to be extra special because this guy is awesome. Not pictured are his best friends, the Jack Dempseys. They claimed the caves and forests on either side of the tank and are *******s to everyone. But not the pleco.
Full tank shot of my other 55. Houses a baby oscar (about 3 inches now, was half an inch long when I got her) named Matilda and also her best friend, Genevieve (another red Jewel). Also a couple of black mysteries and a common pleco named Kevin. (Again, I know I suck at scaping)
This is Genevieve. She is feisty as hell but her and Matilda are best friends. They love to play in the bubble wall.
This is Matilda, my baby. She was my first of the fish. She was put into a tank with oscars more than 3x her size (about half an inch) at a store, so I took her home to keep her from becoming flake. She's super shy and like a chameleon. After I introduced her and Genevieve, she began to turn a pink hue. I've never seen an oscar that can change colors like her. Here she is as a baby:
Genevieve and Matilda playin'
The emergency 10 gallon I had to set up for the third Red Jewel. She was getting bullied reeeeal bad in the big tank, so I moved her. She is so much happier!
Thanks for thumbing through!
