I have just recently signed up after watching my friend Cope enjoying all his tanks so much. I bought the 125gal from Darbex, got it all cleaned up and full of water and now I need to figure out what to put in it. I think my cat enjoys looking at it as much as I do. I have only a little time before opening my new party store and I want to know all I can so I can put in a really BIG tank in the store, I want to be a place kids remember coming to just to see the fish-much as remember going to LaPorte Hardware just to see all the trains when we were kids! I guess that about does it-if I am putting to much into this intro just let me know......I look forward to talking and learning from everyone!!!! Jack

Re: Hello to everyone on Fishbox......
Welcome to the box ....Jack. Nice to meet you. I do hope you take some precautions when sitting up a tank in a possible public environment.
That could have undesirable consequence's for everyone including the fish.
Good Luck with your new venture/hobby...

Welcome to the box :) There are plenty of people here who can give you pointers.
Cope can tell you prolly more about the ups and downs of having a tank in public.. I am sure that he has a ton of people coming and going from his store so he knows what to look for when setting something like that up :)

Welcome to the box, Jack!
(it is very tempting to make a jack-in-the-box reference)Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Re: Hello to everyone on Fishbox......
welcome to the box liljack....i know how exciting it is when you get a tank and your even more excited about what your going to put into it......take your time get it set up and cycled well, then it's just a matter of researching what kinds of fishies you want to look at swimming around in there. Just remember they rely on you as their owner to protect them and love them as you would any pet that you have.....and i assure you they give you love back in their own ways....
good luck and we love to see pictures of projects in the making....don't be afraid to ask questions for i can attest to the fact that we've all got experience in some aspect of keeping the little precious life forms on here......

Re: Hello to everyone on Fishbox......
Jack,
This is my suggestion.
Setup your 125 gallon, get the filters that total 875 gph to 1250 gph combined, then stock the tank with some really nice cichlids. Me, I prefer Tropheus, but they are not real good first fish if your not used to taking care of them. There is however a lot of people here in this forum that keep the fish, and can give you lots of help with them.
You definately started off in the right place by getting a 125 gallon, and coming to this forum. Lots of experts in here on all kinds of fish, and fish tank setups.
