that would be the ideal thing to do but i dont have the time nor skills to do that. the only cars i can work on are old cars. i dont like messing with the new complicated motors. specially a cadillac. i've had at least 7 cadillacs since i was young but the only thing i will do myself is tune ups or small stuff like alternator, brakes, trans filter, ect..fishless

Well, if you have that much coin to drop on fixing the car up... go buy a junkyard motor, have it rebuilt somewhere, then have that swapped into the car. You could probably have the car towed somewhere to have the swap done, but that way you end up with a fresh motor in the car

Depending on what happened to your motor to make it overheat and blow the head gasket, you could have more damage to the motor than is apparent. My parents have had 2 Cadillacs, and I honestly dread working on them
a motor you get from a junkyard/recycler was most likely a good motor that was in a car that got totalled. I think I've bought 2 or 3 motors like this for cars over the years, and all were fine- I think most come with a warranty anyway.
Realistically- how much are you looking to spend on getting the car back up and running?
