The pricing is a little high for what the quality of food that you get in my opinion. I'm not saying that the food is bad, just that it doesn't merit the price ($15-25/entree). The best part, as you can imagine, is the fish. You don't have to pay to wander around the restaurant and look at the fish. I've done it multiple times...Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

I like the downtown aquarium, but I completely agree that the food is way overpriced for the quality that is served.

I dated a girl (lol, back in the day...) who worked at the aquarium. I got to feed the tiger on a stick through his cage, I got to hold a sloth...oh, and I got to feed the octopus. It's name is Octavius.
I also got to see the skimmer and filters that run it...one of the coolest things I have ever seen.
But the food isn't all that snazzy.Help support (C)atfish (A)nd (K)ool Pleco's; Houston's premier fish club

I have to agree that the food is paltry. The problem is that the restaurant's motif is designed to look like an ocean themed child's bedroom. Then they try and push $20.00+ dollar entrees on you that would be worth that IF they could execute in the kitchen.
The tanks in the restaurant are outstanding. I've heard the tanks outside the restaurant in the other section of the building are weak.
I wouldn't go unless its a casual lunch date, you're bringing kids to see the fish, or you really want to see some salt-water fish.
I personally recommend Kona Grill as an adult alternative for quality dining, nice salt-water setup, and better all around decor/atmosphere.Experiencing an aquatic renaissance!

I forgot the name of it, but it was on Richmond and Chimney Rock. It has turned into various other restaurants over the years and no longer had the fish under the floor.PLECOS SUCK!
