I have a Western Digital Raptor 150GB 10KRPM SATA HDD as my main drive for the operating system.

Since I have the ASUS M2N32-SLI Premium I might as well go ahead and grab another video card for my new monitors coming in this week.

You can SLI the 7800 GT you have right now, or you can get one Nvidia 260/280 GTX (which is essentially two video cards in one) and if you get really crazy, add a second 260/280 and SLI those... then you will have 4 video cards in your bad box

The hard drive is 10k rpm...

how easy is it to switch to the 64 bit os

That I dont know I would obviously recommend backing up your data and then do an upgrade.. I am sure that Microsoft has made a pathway. I can do some research but it will be at least until tomorrow, before I can give you a good answer as I need to talk to someone who does this more often.

I'm out of date with my IT training, but I am under the impression you would need a motherboard that supports a 64 bit OS. I could be wrong on that one....???

The processor has to support 64 bit, so that means the mo bo has to support the processor. I would back up your data and wipe and reinstall OS to get a clean install. That would be best case scenario.

CF -- you are correct, but once you have a machine that is running on a AMD64 or higher or Intel Core 2 or higher (some of the last Pentium 4 processors too, but much harder for me to list them all.) All Intel Core 2/Core 2 Duo etc are 64bit processors.

Switch to 64bit OS requiere a fresh installation, but before make sure that all your system components have the 64bit drivers. I will help you with the migration.... just let me know.

The motherboard can support either 32 or 64. So can the processor. Thus the reason I brought both items

AMD and Asus was way ahead of the curve when Vista dropped.
