I agree with CGG, Steve. If your shots are placed correctly then anything .30 cal and up will work for you. I personally prefer the .45 in the 1911 frame. It was originally invented to stop a charging horse back when the mounted calvary was a military component.
MarkWhat are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

The BEST THING TO DO is find some way to shoot the guns. DO NOT buy your first gun before shooting it. You could find a friend that has the gun you are interested in it or rent it from the gun range. Its usually $5 and that $5 is little in comparison to the $500 investment you are about to make. Reading reviews online and listening to salesmen at the gun shop......its all subjective. Everyone has different hand sizes and shapes.
Like everyone else says, shoot what YOU feel the most comfortable with. My little sister has teeny tiny hands and shoots small guns like crap. Her choice is a full size HK tactical .45. Her groups are awesome with this gun. This is what shes comfortable with so this is what she shoots. plain and simple.ADA mini-m planted
