  • HFB Benefit...

I think i have a great idea, but if its not, let me know.

I was reading through some of the threads and came across one about donating money to HFB to help pay for licensing, hosting, etc and i thought, why dont we have a small benefit...

So..i was thinking about at the end of this month or the beginning of next month having a BBQ at my place. I know i live quite a ways away from everybody, but i didnt know where else to host. I have a decent size grill and if anybody else wants to co-host, that'd be great too. Lets say we'll charge $8 a plate and we'll have BBQ, beans, potato salad, bread, etc.
All the proceeds will go to help pay all the stuff that keeps this awesome site going....and who says we cant have a mini auction too....

    Any takers?
Suggestions on time and date are welcome as well as suggestions as to how we'll pull this whole thing on.

We could probably find a park somewhere? Something more centralized.

Either that or see if anyone that is more centralized will host the event.

Also might see if this could be pulled off at one of the GHAC meetings? Seeing as though the majority of HFB makes GHAC.

Baytown isn't that far of a drive...Ginny lives farther out than that and we find our way there ok.
            It's right off of I-10...
HFB should sell Ts and caps...easy to get and useful for members to have.
            No dyed fish, though...
But a benefit would be a good excuse to have some fun...I need more fish!

There's a link to donate in the drop down under Portal Home if you'd like to use that instead. Not that your idea isn't a good one, just letting you know there's a means already in place to donate :)

A special raffle or sorts would be my suggestion.

I think HLA did something like this a while back with a large tank.

You guys are too great! Even if it doesn't happen, the fact that you came up with the idea and posted it as an option is just really cool. Thank you.

I would love to come! I'm not a member of any of the clubs and would like to finally meet everybody. Plus I don't have PayPal (I'm a little suspicious of it) and so haven't donated yet. But I have classes Firday nights and Saturday mornings and I work at Macy's, so I would need to know ahead of time when it was to clear my schedule.

well, i'm thinking the first Saturday in April we meet at my house in Baytown, i'll supply the food. I have a good sized backyard so there'll be plenty of room for tables and such. Lets say we'll start at 2pm and end when all the booze are gone (or kool-aid for Fishboy..lol). I just need something to raffle off. Any donations would be awesome. Bring anything you want to sell/trade/or just show off. I would like to get a head count so i know how much food to buy. If you want to help bring supplies, that would be awesome as well Hope everyone will at least make an appearance.

There would need to be a publicity effort made shortly before the "event"...short attention spans abound.
I would do my best to make sure to make an appearance...I was in Baytown just today.
HFB is our Mother...let's do this.
