    why not take a pair of pliers & open the valve?
    its not like you have to open & close it all the time!!

      Hmm. I'll look around those places for short hoses. And a slinky one wouldn't be too bad I guess.

      I know opening it with a vise grip would probably be a bit cheaper. I'll throw all these ideas around with my parents. I know, though, that when we start remodeling the house we will be replacing alot of the plumbing (we have issues elsewhere) so I guess my dad planned on getting it fixed then. But with the economy we can't even start on the first item on the list which is foundation.

          Post a picture of the damaged valve and we can tell you what the easiest fix is. Sheesh.
