How long is it? 2-1/2 feet? Did you try to catch it?

phan -- the snake is a Texas Rat Snake. Non-venomous.
Problem -- usually this snake only goes where there is food.. if they go inside a home, it usually means there is a rodent in the house it was tracking down.
They are the largest snake found in Harris County.
The snake at 2.5-3 feet is still a Juvi. They get to be about 6ft in length.
They are excellent climbers and if disturbed will whip their tail like a rattlesnake, but they dont have rattles and they are not venomous. This snake can be grabbed from behind with a good size glove on as they are barely able to break your skin.
They are ill-tempered and will defend themselves, but if bit, all you have to do is clean the wound with anti-bacterial soap.
