If you have - how was it? I have heard some mixed reviews this year and am curious what people are saying.

Re: Anyone gone to the Ren Fest this year?
We were thinking about going because I just found out that Allen has never been! How do you live in TX your entire life and never go??
We can't go this weekend, considering going next weekend. I've never been during the last weekend, is it more hectic? What do you mean mixed reviews?

Re: Anyone gone to the Ren Fest this year?
Ellen,
A few friends that are regular rennies have said that it just isn't as "magical" as it used to be and it looks like the entertainment is a lot less than it used be - as in the number of shows/acts. But, on the other hand, if you have never been then you won't notice. We are just diehard fans and have been going for 26-27 years.
The only bad thing about the last weekend is that some of the delicious stuff (like at the garlic Shop and the Salsa Lady place) is gone and you missed out. The good thing about the last weekend is that a lot of stuff is on sale! Most of them don't want to have to haul their goods back home! It's no more hectic than any other time, though!

Re: Anyone gone to the Ren Fest this year?
I went in mid-October. Â It was my 11th straight year of attending the Ren Fest. Â I really didn't notice much difference between this year and previous years. Â The weather wasn't all that great during October and the place was still fairly crowded. Â I make it a point to go every year and really enjoy it. Â But for me much of the "magic" wore off a few years ago simply because I've "been there done that" so many times that nothing is that "fresh". Â Or maybe it's because as I've gotten older I don't drink quite as much when I'm out there. Â
I've only been once on the final weekend. Â In fact, that year (five or six years ago or so) we went on the final day (Sunday). Â At the end of the day I was trying to haggle with a few vendors for some items. Â Contrary to daisymac's experience, I found them surprisingly unwilling to move much on price.

Re: Anyone gone to the Ren Fest this year?
JT - It really depends on which ones are professionals and which aren't. Some of them move on to another festival right away - they do not haggle! Also, it seems like the ones that have products available on the internet don't haggle. Neither do the ones that have large pemanent structures. You just have to shop around. A couple places have blatant sales just to get rid of the stuff. Those are the ones I go to!
We used to enjoy the shows, but year after year you realize they are telling the same lame jokes, and it gets old. But we know a lot of folks out there, so we keep on going. It is just that some of our favorites aren't around anymore. BooHoo!

Hey DrJones - if you haven't been since '85 then you would be really surprised. It is a whole lot larger than it was 21 years ago! Food is better too! You should check out the website.

No, one more weekend. This coming weekend is a Christmas theme. Good thing because we didn't make it last weekend, have 4 tickets and my dh would have killed me if we didn't get out there once!
So I have 2 tickets (less than it costs at the door) up for grabs, if anyone is interested.
