This is my Hahn's Macaw, Pickles. He is about the same size as a Sun Conure. He is three years old and speaks a little bit. "Hello Pickles" "Time for bed" "Wanna cookie?" (he loves to tease the dogs with this one!

Cute! Love the name. I had a Hahn's macaw named Gwen. She passed away several years ago.

The Houston SPCA has birds that were recently surrendered in their most recent MAJOR rescue (the one with over 1000 live animals and many deceased). They have low adoption fees on the birds if you are willing to start from scratch with them.

Indy is no where near as moody as my 2 year old Yellow Shouldered, the thing with Amazons, is that you have to know their body language, if they are telling you to keep away with a flared tail and crouching body, you don't pick them up. Granted, I have had him roughly a week, but have had no problems!!!!

i laugh at the low adoption fee.....I tried to adobt one of the green winged macaws, was approvied, but was quoted $2000 to adopt, keep in mind, a baby that has no bad personalityor bad habits would only cost $1200. I was wanting to replace my my Green Wing "Hans", i did not need the cage, but $2000 for a bird with bad habits, oh my.....

after the recent seizure, i don't have much faith in them anymore, as their adoption fees are wayyyy higher than what you would pay at a reputable store.

Not to mention, they would not let me have the vet records of the exam from when the bird was siezed, I also offered to pay for the testing of Psittacosis, Polyoma, and PBFD, but they would not let me test before I brought the bird into the home, was simply told that they knew the bird was negative for all of them.

Oops... sorry. I guess the lower fees for the smaller birds had me snowed. I was not aware of the vet record issue either. Ignore what I said *shrugs*

Too cute! I've always liked these birds. :) But for now, I'm a one-bird-woman. :)
