  • food source...

after watching 3 seasons of F WORD, it got me thinking for a bit, as a sushi chef, i know where my seafood comes from and how its killed/dressed/stored/etc...
so would you raither know where your food comes where, how its killed and etc etc or would you raither just go to a store and pick up ur meat in a package and not knowing how it live its life and how it was done...
this will be my first year to hunt... i'll learn how to end its life and how to dress it right... but if thing goes wrong, we'll have a vegetarian sushi chef on the board.... roflamo...

I'd much rather know where it's coming from, and the history. But I'm a vegetarian, so... It's not much of an issue for me.

People who have not picked, cought, killed, cleaned, prepared their food do not really understand the food chain concept.

I have a cousin who has never been closer to a chicken than a package of breast tenders. And the closest she has ever been to a garden is a hanging flower basket. No concept of eat or be eaten
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

I think everyone should go hunting at least once...just so they have a better respect of hunting, guns, an how easy getting food can or can't be. Some people around the world...if they don't go hunting an actually get something, them, an thier family do not eat! But at the same time, the people that simply "trophy" hunt....unless they are taking managed animals...are just not hunters in my book, they are just plain ole killers.

No one is born that way? Maybe that's because they're born into a society that eats meat? I've never thought about that before, interesting...

It was the hardest thing I've ever done in my entire life, becoming a vegetarian. I am not a vegan, although I tried that at first. Some even say I'm not a vegetarian, because I eat shellfish, and am still weaning myself off of fish after 7 years. But it's hard being a vegetarian when no one else you know is - they can't understand that a meal can be just as good without having "meat." So it's just been easier to eat shellfish and fish, because otherwise I might starve. )

I became one for two reasons - 1, for health reasons, and 2, because of the way the animals are treated. And because I don't appreciate the disrespect that we as a species have for other species. That's about the gist of it. :)

One of my favorite diets was "Eat no Mamals".
I could have all the fish & chicken (gators, etc.)
just didn't eat anything with hair & tits.

speaking of tits, reminds me of jeff and walter... why doesn't chicken breast have nipple on it, because when its cold, it could poke open the package... roflmao...
now back to org. topic... so should you know or not know where/how your food comes from?

My dad gave me a .22 when I was 8. I've been shooting, dressing and eating my own game since then. I have no qualms about it. I believe man is a predator and it's natural for me to eat animals.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.
