"Environmentally-friendly" my BUM!
No worries about those homeowners who do have ellectricity and think this is a fine idea - and throw plecos into their chlorine-saturated pool. Then, once a few dozen are killed in error, after they finally figure it out, and the plecos eat the algae, they "take them back to the lake where they came from?" Are you friggin' kidding me?!?!
It's this kind of unresearched reporting, lack of common sense, lack of a sense for your audience, and lack of respect for living things that really makes me angry. Really, really angry.

You know the part that kills me is this line right here
"Once the houses are sold, the new owner can either recycle the fish, or take them back to the lake where they came from"
You know the sign outside says "this pool is being cleaned by "non-Native" livestock which tells me.. returning them to the lake where they came from is NOT the right thing to do.. but then again Journalists cannot read nor can they think....
Wait maybe someone will bring me up to speed... Non-Native and bring back to the Lake where the were found..

No one quoted in or writing this story knows anything. That's all there is to it. And in their ignorance, they are touting the use and disposal of one of the most invasive species known to the U.S. Disposal in our backyards, no less.
Like I said, idiots thinking they're geniuses, when in fact their plan is unfathomably dangerous and injurious."Millennium hand and shrimp!"
