There will never be another Houstonian that is so dearly loved and mourned than him......

I only met Patrick, or as his Mom always called him "Buddy", once when he visited his Mom's (Patsy's) dance studio in Houston (across from Waltrip High) back in 1975 or early 1976. He was dancing then with Eliot Feld's Ballet company I believe and the great Jerome Robbins was going to choreograph a new ballet with Patrick in the lead. But an old football injury resurfaced in his knee and all of a sudden the ballet was over. That's when Patrick returned to acting. Returned as he had grown up doing musicals in Houston as his mother choregraphed/acted in many of them through the 50's and early 60's. I knew Patrcik's wife before I knew Patrick. Lisa Niemi (Hoppiniemi then -- spelling may be off) used to ride the school bus with me to middle school. She was the typical ballerina then -- shy, quiet, stylish and thin. Lisa came from a big family that lived a couple of blocks away. I think she had around 4 or 5 brothers. Patrick's mother was and is an extraordinary teacher; not just of dance but of life. Patsy thought nothing of rehearsing kids 5-6 hours a night. No dance teacher ever taught a better warm-up -- at least an hour or more and so her dancers were rarely injured. Patrick was so much like her only sweeter, softer somehow. But he had Patsy's no BS, work your rear end off, professional, fun, intense yet easy going almost working class feel love of the art. It was a remarkable family all the way around but Patrick - maybe next to Patsy - was the star. Patsy lost a daughter around 15 years ago to suicide and her husband 20+ years ago to cancer. My thoughts go out to her. She is one of the best and raised a lovely son.

He fought the good fight, and in a world where Actors and Actresses change mates at whim, he and his wife stayed true to each other throughout. I loved his work and will miss him.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.
