so i got a kitten from Steve (or was it something else), had it for 2 days now and my cat Sashimi hates him... a lot, she hass at him, try to claw him when he gets near, is there anything i can do to help them get along? or was it a bad idea to have an other cat, Sashimi thinks she is the master of the house sometimes...

animals generally adapt to things given time. Does Sashimi seek the kitten out to attack it? Animals are like people... change can be rough. Sashimi is the master of the house and she is telling him she is in charge. She is telling him to step back, she has personal space. Considering the fact he hasn't been injured in a major way, things are going well. If you have ever really seen cats fight... it is like watching two ticked off women fight... they fight until major pain has been inflicted or death. Sounds like Sashimi is asserting her dominance to me. Sounds like the new kitten is trying to learn his place in the home. - again...just my opinion.5.5 fw fluval chi - class N top bar snake chested endlers/ red marble bn/ 4 stripe RCS/ pumpkin shrimp

its normal for them to take a little bit of time to get used to each other
try mixing their smells, take turns using the same brush on both of them,
keep them isolated for a few days, then switch the areas

Sometimes Feliway can help. Its a product used to calm stressed cats. It helped my cats adjust to each other initially.

as of now, my Sashimi is still alowed everywhere in the house, just like before and Sushi is locked up in the carry cage when i am sleep at night (Sashimi likes to jump on my bed early in the morning to sleep on my head or feet) and when ever i am not home, and the cage is inside the bathroom where Sashimi can't reach, when i get home Sushi is alowed to go anywhere he wants...

Give it a while.. I have to agree with everyone.. unless Sashimi has outright attempted to fight Sushi then like everyone else is saying "I am the master, and you will follow my rules" Sashimi does not look at Sushi as an outright threat, because it would have already come to a knock out fight.. Sushi already knows, he is not strong enough to take Sashimi.. by the time it comes to that point they will be loving cats together and both will know Mahoro is in charge.. they are just there to make your lifehellfun
Keep smiling :) You are doing the right thing :)

Like mentioned before, it's normal for the established cat to assert dominance when the new kitteh arrives.
The day before Ike hit I found a stray kitteh in the back parking lot and, knowing it probably wouldn't survive a bad storm, took it home. He was probably 8 wks old. Sophie hated him at first and hissed and spat and growled at him. Within a few weeks they were chasing each other all over the house playing.
If Sashimi is a relatively young cat, she will probably warm up to the kitteh eventually and accept it as long as the kitteh understands who's boss. If she's over four yrs old, she may be so set in her ways that she will continue to shun the kitteh. It's always a crap shoot when introducing new cats into a one-cat house.
As long as Sahimi isn't stalking the kitteh to try to drive her off or hurt her, I think there's a chance they'll get along. If it were me, I would let the kitteh run loose while I was home and only keep her put up for the first couple weeks while I was at work.
Anyway, my two pennies.
