does the jelly fish in galveston sting? i've never sting by them before, nor know of anyone, when i go wade fish, when they get near me i just push them away and it never bother me... i am just wondering if i am playing with luck...

There are a couple of types.
The clear type aren't good. They will sting you.
The man o war. They look like they have a blue balloon body and long tentaticles hang down below them and they are very posionous. Getting stung by these guys even if they are dead can cause sever problems including seisures.

I have been stung.. a couple got caught in my watch band while I was swimming... then wrapped around my body as I tried to get away... I had welts everywhere but where my bathing suit covered. The group I was with brought meat tenderizer. In that same group a kid was on a wave runner and fell off... in a group of man-o-wars... He was in bad shape and had to go to the hospital. Yes... the jelly fish in Galveston sting... or rather their tentacles do5.5 fw fluval chi - class N top bar snake chested endlers/ red marble bn/ 4 stripe RCS/ pumpkin shrimp
20 sw cube - a few damsels and a colony of bristleworms
29 fw - self cloning crayfish..which can't seem to clone haha
29 fw - mollies / albino bristlenose / ghost shrimp and snowball shrimp/ glo danios
29 fw - crs/ amano/tiger shrimp /assassins/ whiptails/ plants/ 3 emerald cories
55 fw - steatocranus casaurius (20ish)/ tetras/ rainbows/large Jack Dempsey
75 fw - large Jack Dempseys / pictus cat/ yoyo loach/ Red gippicep/ 10+" oscar/ parrot

I've got stung by the man of war 33 yr's ago. Cried like a baby for a hour or 2. ammonia will releave the pain. so carry ammonia wipes like moist towellets(they sell them at Academy) or let your buddy help you out. I could'nt get my girl friend too. LOL

I know someone official was driving the beach the night I was down there and they ensured they where removed because of the lethal stings they have the capability of

the only jelly fish i was ever stung by before was when i was a kid in taiwan, and it was one of those non-danger to human ones, their sting is non-lethal nor it does anything to you because it can not pentrate the skin, we were more worry about puffers then the jelly fish...
