  • Trip to Fossil Rim

I went to Fossil Rim last weekend! It was so cool feeding normally wild/shy animals out of my hand!

My wife and I LOVE that place! we have been there probably 10 times, and taken thousands of pictures. A great place to take the kids, or just get away with the wife. We always stay at one of the little hotels in town that has the old iron frame beds, and no TV. We bought a family membership for a year. Take an ice chest full of beer and cruise through. We also figured out what they feed, so we wouldn't run out of food in the first 15 min.
Go to Heaven for the climate Hell for the company.

I had never heard of it before this year - it was featured on the "Wild About Animals" TV show. I couldn't find anyone who had been there, but decided it would be a fun weekend trip. We took the "Behind the Scenes" tour and got to see the animals in the captive breeding programs, including the black rhinos, lots of cheetahs, grey wolves, red wolves, and the spooky looking maned wolves. The tour guide was an intern who gave us lots of inside information and fun stories about the different animals.

I even loved feeding the gentle white tailed deer who are not really supposed to be there, but jump over the fences for the good life!
