  • TV Repair?

Does anyone on the Box do TV repair? My projection big screen quit working while I was Offshore:furious:. The sound works, but the lamp is not working. It is a fairly new TV and I really don't want to replace it right now.
    Thanks,

    Cody

i could replace it, but i cant give you a guarentee, i used to work for a place called Bammel TV Repair on walters Rd. off of 1960.

they will come out to your house and fix it.

is the tv you have projection, or dlp projection?
    this makes a big difference.
if you have a dlp, then its likely your bulb went out, however it may also be your color wheel.

if you have a standard projection, then its likely 1 or more of your color projection bulbs,
on a standard projection tv you have a red, blue and a green bulb.

if one goes out, you have the other colors, so since you have a single bulb it sounds like, then its probably the projection bulb.

depending on what brand your tv is, ie; mitsubishi, sony, lg, ect. it can be anywhere from $150-$250 just for the bulb.

if you order a new bulb, its very very easy to put in yourself.

there should be a small panel on the back of your tv, it will have 3-5 screws, take the screws out, there should be a housing that slides out containing your bulb.
take the bulb out and place the new bulb in its place.
DO NOT TOUCH THE BULB ITSELF, YOU WILL SHORTEN THE LIFE OF THE BULB AND POSSIBLY CRACK IT.

once the bulb is in where the old bulb was, slide the housing back in, and put the screws back.

thats all there is to it.

they will charge you $200+ just to change out the bulb, thats just labor, then its ~ $200 for the bulb itself.
    its very easy to do.

My big screen has a reset button. I have had to reset 4 times in 6 yrs usually after a storm. It's a little hole(as small as the a in this sentance) on the front by the buttons. I use a little welding rod. Try that first.
