It's because we aren't prepared for it down here. Rush hour traffic in Houston is horrible on a regular day...add snow and it's a recipe for destruction. A few years ago when it snowed on Christmas Eve, me and my cousin were driving back from Pasadena to Sugarland. We were at a dead stop on one of the overpasses waiting for a wreck to be cleared and watched several cars just start slowing sliding into the guardrails. Like, they weren't moving and then just started sliding. It was awful to watch because there was nothing anyone could do.
So, yeah, maybe it's pretty silly to think that people scatter when it gets icy or it snows, but I'd rather everyone be snuggled up at home than out crapping up the roads.

I am a lifelong Texan and have lived here the majority of my life (30 0f 35 yrs). I have to admit that while I enjoy the snow I am dissapointed that alot of Texans show a lack of common sense when driving in it.
I was off today and did not acomplish anything as every where I went from the barber shop to the college was closed. :furious:
I KNOW Texans can drive in the snow with the application of a little common sense. I was deployed to Kosovo with a Brigade comprised entirely of Texans who had no issues driving in a country that had snow on the ground five months out of the year. It can be done, unfortunately common sense is not a common virtue.

Here in Humble it didnt start till 11:30 and stopped at 5ish. Most of students walked out in my high school and we did a HUGE snowball fight in the student parking lot, then the school district decided they obviously couldnt control us and let us out early. I just got home and im FREEZING!

I am so jealous! I live out east of Dallas and we only got a few flurries. A big snow was expected yesterday but didn't happen. Then I hear the Houston area got it! I love me some snow!
