I think that when they switched from motorola processors to intel processors that it was on their mind - especially considering they put out software to support booting from and running Window natively.
In fact, if you think about, its a genius move. Imagine how many more thousands of units they've sold now that dedicated p.c. users can have their very own sleek silver macbook and still run the OS they're used to. The same thing is gonna happen to the iPhone when Verizon launches it next year. All those that refused to leave their network will finally be rewarded with the chance to get an iphone, as much as Apple will be rewarded with that many more unit sales.
