I think most buyers feel like if they dont atleast get something, then they dont feel as good about the deal.

When it comes to Tropheus, so many of us here know the wholesale and import pricing, that comparred to the rest of the Country...they mostly hate us because of it, or are atleast super jealous that we get them for that pricing.

There are a lot of haters out there especially in Industry that dont like some of us because of what we know.

The Greater Houston area has a population of 5.7 million people as of last census. About 4 million just in Harris County alone.

I'm not sure it could really be called saturation, but in this niche I could see a possiblity

Yes, but all 5.7 million are not on this forum- are they?.

I could easily be wrong but from the outside looking in - majority of the posters here have had or currently have tropheus. This is both a plus and minus. The plus part is the uniqueness of a city (or state) having claim to so many different variants. The minus is that you always get someone low ballin' you due to so many people having them.

                1% is 57,000 people.

I would bet that many keep fish of some kind.

If 1% of those Keep Petros and Trophs that's 570 people. I think that number is higher, but just saying...

                      Not at all

I think there are lots of people in this Greater Houston area that keep these fish, but do not search on forums to realize there are a lot of people that keep these fish and have the passion for them just as they do.

I'd be curious to see how Houston fares to other metros (in the U.S. only) for Tanganyikan fish keeping. Its seems like we have a higher ratio.

i think it is the economy now....
i mean tropheus are one of the most adorable fishes...
there are more and more people jumping into tropheus each day...
even tho theres not that many....but still a few...there had been a few post about it in the past few weeks....which made me happy..
when people first start...most likely they will go for f1, because of the low price...and it should be easier than wc..i think every tropheus keeper knows that keeping tropheus is not that easy like some other fishes...and a whole group is needed when you really decide to do it right...
i am not a tropheus breeder like many of you are...but i do care about f1 frys price...from what i observed, the price of the frys had really gone down...from not too long ago...which is somewhat good for the new tropheus keeper, but on the other hand, also bad to tropheus breeder. we are producing more than we need now...i do not think it is high supply...it is just lower demands now..
but looks to me it is not only tropheus...a lot more things are like this now...i also have a little pico sw coral tank..which i go to marsh reef a lot too...i guess people selling coral frags are like what we selling tropheus frys...i see a lot of them got no buyers...or even sell really slow....thats making me think it is the whole economy thing now...not the fish market itself...
i was at john fishfreak's house like 2 weeks ago...it was sad to hear him said he could loss all his fishes and tanks, and even the house...even thought i ve only know him that night...but from his tanks, his fishes, and his diy systems...i think every hobbyist may feel the same as me...i truly wish there is something i could do to help him keep all his stuffs...but the reality is there...everyone must first pay all the bills, food, and things...
its not easy for all of us...so i think as an seller, maybe sometimes understanding people bargaining a little is normal...i understand your fishes are quality, but sometimes the feeling of wanted something bad but really that little money would make the deal is a hard feeling...so i think as long as they dont go really crazy on the bargain..and they are a true hobbyist i shall understand...after all...we are taking it as a hobby but not a business right? i do not think a lot of us depend on selling frys to make a living right? so sometimes why not help others out a little? isn't that what everyone wants this forum to be? no matter how good you are, more than likely one day you will need some help on different things...i remember an old chinese slang that teaches people, do not go all they way on people, which what goes around comes around...one of the day you will meet that same person again....and if you did save a little space for yourself..everything should be much easier...
after all..we all live in the same city...which more than likely...we will see each other one day...

One things I have always tried to keep true too...

Its not about the money, its about the relationships with people that is so much more cherished and important.

You cannot take anything with you, but I would rather have someone say...that Geoff was a great and caring friend...than to have someone say that Geoff was a hardworker, who worked all the time, and was a stingy *******!!
