VW Bug

My son is starting to rebuild a 71 VW bug.
Anyone been there / Done that and can help with some advice ?
Have an in with a engine or transmission rebuild shop that does same ?

A buddy at work is redoing his '69 bug and I remember him mentioning some sort of bug heaven junk yard... I'll ask him later tonight about it.
