just watched with my girl and friend who just got home from Iraq. Good movie, but man I was pissed off the whole time during the movie. I think I got the wrong message during the movie and felt differently than I think most would. To me, the main character(Toby) played the role of a coward. what he did while detained should not be forgiven. Yes, the situation they were in was HORRIBLE. And I guess nobody can really be sure of what they would do until they are there in the situation, but I would think that being trained the way they are they should know that being a prisoner normally equals death. Say nothing and plan to die and pray to the God of your choice. If he didnt do what he did, he would have been killed...true. However, I feel that is more honorible than choosing the route he did. Also, I think the movie wanted the audience to feel sorry for his mental troubles after arriving home...I didnt. I think he drove himself over the edge and lost care of what should have mattered the most...his family.
If you havent seen the movie... you should and see how it makes you feel. BTW, my friend pretty much felt the same as me about the movie and he just returned home from over there for right at a year.
