So what happens when a ball hits the acrylic panels? Sure, it won't shatter, but won't the impact cause a shock to the fish? That's a fast ball, and that would be a BIG bang... Reminds me of stories I've read about people worried about their koi in the winter when their pond ices over, so they take a hammer, break the ice, and all their fish float to the top, dead from the shockwave-like bang.

Wow. It's a cool idea, but the more I think about it...poor fish!

well, it says that lexan will be installed in front and back of acrylic panels. I assume they would leave some space so the shock isn't transferred to the actual tank.

"Each aquarium will be constructed using a durable fiberglass structure, and white crystal-clear acrylic panels 1.5 inches thick will be used for the viewing windows. To safeguard it from impact, Lexan — the material used for bulletproof windows — will be installed in front and in back of the acrylic panels."

So if they are going to install 1.5 acrylic panels then lexan over it, i'm curious if there will be any distortions.
