  • Shopping for a new truck

Like the title says, I'm truck shopping. Been looking at 1/2 ton GMCs, Chevys and Fords. Anyone have any opinions on the 2010 models? Things to avoid? Good deals/dealerships? Haven't looked at Dodge yet. Toyota and Nissan are out of my price range. Any and all input is needed and welcome!

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? dodge are good! Just cheap interior. my 2 cent

ford feel as if you owe them something based on there price.

Chevy/GMC. I have a GMC. I tested drove several of each before I decided on my current one. To me it seem as if the GMC had a better suspension and handling.

Dodge is good quality for cheap price right now. I got a 2005 with 15000 miles on it for $13,000. That included the crome kit, 20inch wheel and rims, and the 5.7 hemi. With insurance and waranty to 100,000 miles. The sticker price on the truck was alittle over 30,000 new. Check out dodge.
      10 Gallon (emergency tank)
      20 Gallon (emrgency tank)
58 gallon ( Tetra, Platie, Cory)
      125 Gallon (Ikola)

As a former car salesmen, my best advice to anyone shopping for a new or used vehicle, ......TAKE YOUR TIME....and shop around for the best deal.....get the dealerships into a bidding war for your business....Go to every dealership you can, compare models, accessories and interest rates......but most important ....

        TAKE YOUR TIME

I started online shopping 2 weeks ago, started hitting the dealerships a week ago. This has been a real test of endurance. LOL I got pre-approved at my credit union so didn't have to play the payments game at the dealerships. Steve, I sold cars for a couple years at the old Ray Massey Toyota after I got out of the Navy, so knew the drill. My loan officer at the credit union has been invaluable in this process. She's financed hundreds of trucks over the last couple years, knows the ins and outs of the deals that people have gotten. After a couple weeks at this I actually found the best deal closest to home.

2010 Dodge 1500 Quad Cab, V8, tilt/cruise, auto trans., tow pkg, spray in bed liner, stock wheels (didn't want the 20" for several reasons), elect windows, mirrors, CD player + for $20,500. No other dealer will even get close. My loan officer looked up the value chart on the truck that she could loan on and it shows the truck at over $26K. She says that's a fantastic deal on that truck. She said I should go ahead and finance through GMAC to get the $1,500 off the price and when I get my paperwork from GMAC, bring it to her and they'll refinance it before I have to make my first payment. I'm not upside down on my trade, actually have around a $1,000 equity so should drop the price to $19,500 after trade. I still owed for two years on my Toyota and now my payments go down around $100 a month. Woohoo!

I'm so excited. I've never owned a brand new truck with 8 miles on it before.

            Thanks guys!

Not really. When automakers start going to 20's the prices came down greatly. Factory 20's are around 400 for a set. Plus most trucks and Suv's are design to ride and handle better with 20's.

I priced replacement tires for 20s, that's a big reason I wanted stock rims.

That won't be an issue. I think a main reason my old Chevy PU lasted through 350,000 miles was the fact that I changed oil in it every 3K.
