anyone knows how to fix computer??
my desktop just wont load anything now...seems like a hardware problem...
did a restart, and then it freeze on the gateway screen...wont load anything..cant get into bios....
took the battery out of the motherboard, and put it back..when press power button, gives me 2 short beep, then after awhile, another beep.
and now it wont even show the gateway screen..
i am not too good about computer...
anyone fixed computer on the box?
or any recommendations of local computer shop that does not rip people off?

If you are comfortable with removing componets, take out the DVD's, CD's, first, your system does not need them to run.....

Try rebooting after removing each componet, but pay attention to how they are hooked up, so you can reinstall them.

If a computer hard drive gets a bad sector or otherwise damaged, they sometimes will not boot like you are talking about, But it's hard to say at this point exactly what the problem is.....

Items that can cause this scenario might be the power supply, your ram, hard drive and or the mother board itself, but I would try taking out a single component at a tiime and then try rebooting to see if you have found the problem.

What model Gateway do you have?

Is the beep code 2 short beeps, then 1 long beep?

hi tracy...
the model number is gateway dx4300-3
when i turn it on, it gives 2 beeps, and after a few seconds..the screen blink once, (turn into greyish color) and then it gives another beep...
the beep sound are all the same, its not like the last beep is longer...
its like beep beep.......(a few seconds)....... beep
not like beep beep......(a few seconds)......beepppppppppppppppppppp
lol...it looks funny how i describe it... but i really dont know how...
but lucky enough that mgarrido is so nice that he will take a look at it for me...
so thanks a lot to him and hope we can get it fixed, or get the files out lol...

You're in good hands with mgarrido. Hopefully it's just a component that is easily swappable and you'll be back up and running in no time. Memory would be my guess, but we'll see....

ya...thanks for all the help guys...
i just hope i can at least get the files back...
i am just too lazy that i never back up files on time...
maybe i should just buy a big external hard drive and have all my files save on there...

It is probably a memory problem. It depends on what bios your computer has.

Did you have a recent power outage before this happen? If so was your computer on? Sound like your motherboard or hard drive. I would lean more toward the hard drive.

no outage as i aware of....
it was working fine, i just did a restart...and it went like that...
