So, I went to a motorcycle dealer in hopes to buy a small power inverter so I can run my pumps in the event of extended power failure.
Won't mention dealer's name, not important really, but thought I'd share my experience to hope to help someone.
The dealer starts by writing up this paperwork as if I was buying a new car or motorcycle. Thought that was a bit much, but okay. So the saleman goes to his manager and comes back with Inverter MSRP on a 2009 unit and added "prep fee' and "doc" fee? What" Prep fee, Doc. fee? I knew i was getting jerked around at this point becasue a few days ago was looking at a honda inverter from a lawnmower shop and they just charged tax?
So, we question this sales guy as to why a prep fee and Doc fee? He had the nads to tell me, well the inverter has a VIN number and therfore requires a Doc fee? What? I ask him to show me the Vin number and he points to the serial number? I said that is the serial number, not VIN Number" He says "it's the samething"?. So, I knew I was being decieved and left and went to get the Honda. Guess waht no Doc or Prep fee on a 2010 unit?
