college students?

is anyone else here in college this semester? I was just wondering because my schedule is ridiculous this semester. im at school everyday till 4 and then i have work till 8, then i come home and usually have to finish more work from my biz and ship that stuff out and then i have to do hw till i fall asleep. Im not going to lie, i have been neglecting my fishies lately but im doing the best i can.

Give em all to me, I'll take good care of them, lol. BTW those last 3 fish I got from you are doing great. My wife has started calling the big one "The Mother Ship" because it'll just swim in and lay on top of all of the others.

im really glad to hear that man. those fish were the first fish i ever put in my tank and they meant soooo much to me it was hard as hell to sell them. I know they went to a good home and i bet the big one is huge now.

Me and my roomie are college students too... We exactly know what u are saying!!! But we seem to be managing our fish pretty well. They are growing in size day by day...

Taking two online senior courses this semester, working close to 60hrs a week, and finding time to still have a Sunday Funday...its not easy being awesome!!!

im really glad to hear that man. those fish were the first fish i ever put in my tank and they meant soooo much to me it was hard as hell to sell them. I know they went to a good home and i bet the big one is huge now.

Yeah it's awesome to see 15-16 little/medium ones piled up in a corner and then comes "Big MOmma" and just lays on top of all of them. It's established itself as leader of the shoal because all of the others follow it everywhere it goes. Gettin Nice and fat(ter) too.

I totally feel ya on this. I graduated in may, and my last 2 years were a nightmare. With 4 labs and usually 2 writing intensives each semester, I was always running around. Basically I found ways to make my aquarium maintenance more efficient. I also cut back on things that really didn't matter. I use to wipe down tanks every other day, and clean my rocks/wood once a week. That got cut back to "as needed", whose definition changed depending on the week... I also realized that adding plants to my tanks made them much more stable, and gave some buffer room in case I didn't have time to do all the filtration maintenance I should.

I feel ya mark . taking 13 hrs and working 30+ hrs a week . Ichthyology is already killing me. we have to key out 200 fish know their scientific names from kingdom to species and also feeding habits, location, what part of the water column they live in etc etc.

ya ive actually gotten down to just one main tank, and i have cut the stock down alot as well to keep the tank more stable...

what are you majoring in? that sounds like an interesting class that i would actually enjoy, as memorizing intensive as it sounds..

Yeah you'll get a real sense for how screwed up our classification system is... subclasses and infraorders just get confusing.

To the OP and other college students, hang in there. Some semesters are worse than others. Put your time in. . . it will be worth it in the end! If anyone has any questions or whatever, specifically with science, I'm more than happy to try to help. Just PM me! I have a lot of experience with my own school and with my teaching background.

Sounds a little like the plant taxonomy laboratory I used to teach. . . I suppose I'm lucky, because I've always had a bit of a knack for the names and all of that. Most of my taxonomic experience has been in insects and plants. . . keying out small bees to species is a real hassle, too! Good luck with that! Hopefully, they won't get too specific with all of that, because some of that probably is less useful.

thanks man, science is my worst subject. im taking geology right now which is supposed to be easy and its hard LOL

Im taking 14 hours this semester and working 20 hours a week ITTTT SUCCKKKSS! Im broke and Have no time to do anything. I do find my self on here way to much though. I usually take a "5 break" from homework and end up searching the box and mfk for a couple hours haha. I only have time to service the tanks on the weekends. I also mange to spend all my paychecks on my tanks during the weekends too......
