Well at this point since looks like you already own a quietone pump, trial and error is the way to go, but should be fine with a T and a ball valve. I really prefer smaller pumps for 3 factors: 1. More water contact with the bio-media; 2. Less heat transfered to the tank; 3. Less noise (overflows tend to be a bit noisy)
