  • Any other gardeners out there?

I've always had a vegetable garden but this is the first year I did one at my new house because the top 4" of the backyard is limestone and oyster shell. This year I built raised bed and got some containers to grow my garden in. It's pretty small. Next year I'll probably add a couple more boxes and some more containers.

    full garden shot

    sunflower

three kinds of basil; sweet basil, purple basil and variegated basil

three kinds of tomatoes; cherry tomatoes, early girls and beefsteaks

rosemary, mexican oregano and greek oregano

    more garden pics

    cucumbers climbing the trellis

    radishes and marigolds

the big box has bush beans, purple hull sprouts, marigolds, sunflowers and cucumbers

    cherry tomatoes

    early girl tomatoes

I'm pretty happy with the overall growth so far. I lost most of my bush beans to a recent hailstorm and planted purple hulls in their place. I'm trying to find some edamame seeds for the second half of the season. The second half I'll plant mustard greens, edamame, dewberries in the small box and probably some leaf lettuce.

I have seen some fresh Edamame at HEB, not sure if they would sprout and grow, but I'd imagine they would.

The last couple times I grew them was from dried beans. Might be worth checkin' out the fresh ones.

I also garden. I'm in a new houes(4 years in September) and I'm learning what does well. I'm trying container gardening with flowers from seeds but something is eating them! and they are 3 feet off the ground. I planted a 4 in one apple tree and have other fruit trees, orange, lime, lemon, peach and tangerine. The Apple trees have some nice looking fruit and the orange is loaded again. The rest just have leaves. :) When I get a camera I'll take pictures.

Very nice. I helped plant a garden with hot banana peppers, big boy tomatoes, jalapeņos, and some other stuff but your garden is really nice. Is it all organic?

Not sure if the use of miracle-gro takes it out of the organic category. That fert works like crazy.

I for years had gardens then found myself in apartments. This year however my husband and I got good size pots and a couple of topsy turvey's and we have a fruit and vegetable garden outside our apartment. We use Miracle grow soil and no pesticides and we consider it organic lol

great looking plants wesleydnunder! I think I've seen an organic version of miracle grow available? Or hit up the local hydro supply, they'll have plenty of organic goodies to make your plants rock!

I live in an apartment too. Sucks having limited or no gardening space. Let's see some pics of how you overcame the obstacle of apartment gardening!

I get all my seeds from Burpee, #1 in my book for variety and information. We have everything starfruit, tangerines, crab apples, chili peppers, herbs, persimmons and Vietnamese leafy veggies.
