  • Really...we needed another one...we really did!

Last week we had found a lost dog. We kept her for a few days and then the owner showed up to take her home. The next day we discovered that we missed having her around a whole lot. We already have two dogs, but it appears that we needed another one...

    so...

Yesterday we adopted 4 month old Fergus

Here is is with one of our other dogs, George.

Isn't he adorable! He's awfully little. I am told that his mother was about 60 pounds, so I am hoping that he gets to a decent size. He is smart and sweet and getting along great with our other dogs. He doesn't seem to like our cat much though.

Congrats & thanks for adopting rather than going to a puppy mill. So many animals need fur-ever homes.

What an adorable puppy-face. I got my last dog at the shelter... so glad more folks are doin' that.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

Thank all of you for rescuing what you can. My dad runs a no-kill shelter up in Brady, the only one in town & self funded. He has over 100 cats & 40+ dogs. It's amazing, especially in such a small town that animals are so expendable. It's very weird when Animal Control knocks on your door to deliver an animal, but that's how he rolls. Not many adoptions there either. He bought an old POW camp to house some of the bigger dogs & people just drop more over the fence! He goes out to feed them & there's another one! Ugh. OK, off my soapbox. Anyhow, thank you all for utilizing the shelters.

The lady that was fostering him had 11 puppies at her house. There was Fergus and two of his littermates and 8 adorable little pit mixes. I would have taken them all if I had room for them!

I read an article recently that there is a big problem in France with people you get animals and then, when they go on vacation, dump them because they can't afford to have someone care for them while they are gone. Can you even imagine?

well, they're French after all... but I'm sure it happens all over the world, including here in the US

It happens everywhere, unfortunately. Sad but true.
