Re: When we're not at home with our fish....

ohhhhhhh I have been saltwater fishing once.... but still prefer fresh.  Growing up, when Dad wanted to get out of the house, we could pack a couple of sandwiches, dig some worms, grab the poles and head to the Potomac River where there is a small 53 degree spring that is home to some beautiful rainbow trout.  I would stand where the stream and the river met so I could view the fish around me.  Most of the time I had my pole stuck in the ground near my dad who would sit high on the hill.  Even then I wanted to watch the fish.  We would get home, Dad would clean the fish...usually trout and bass, and we would have fish for dinner.  It was only when I moved down here that people actually EAT the catfish lol.  Up north where I grew up, the craYfish were used for bait, only if they were latched on to whatever you caught.  We never thought of eathing them either.  Steve, Loretta, it looks like you two have a blast!

            Wow, that's really cool.

Personally, I love saltwater fishing...it's just the thrill of every time you reel in something strong you have to wonder if there's a shark on the other end :)

we have a whole wall in our house dedicated or should i say saluting our fishing trips over the last few years.....we do have such a great time fishing...we don't "suffocate"...we liberate.....kiss em and throw em back in to catch another day......we never kill them....and we're as gentle and caring with this as we are with our little babies at home.....our passions run deep on both accounts....glad you all enjoyed the photos that steve has posted....

Re: When we're not at home with our fish....

I grew up in Galveston on the water.  Did a lot of fishing, crabing and collected oysters when we had verry low tides.
But everything bigger than my finger that got caught got eaten, cut up for fish bait or put in the crab traps.  The little stuff eather went in my Aquarium or went into the pressure cooker to make cat food.

'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

                      PP,

it's a outdoor/water thing....forget the pics with fish and people in them......check out the pics of the scenery.....the sky, the water, the trees.....we got other pics with Gator's, mudrats, squirrels, frogs, dragon flies taking a break on our big toe, that kind of thing. Catching fish is just a bonus, we call it "fishin" but in reality, it's just a one day vacation on the water taking it easy.

Looks like you guys had a great time!  Congrats on the catches.  Tight lines!
