  • Thank God for alcohol!

I believe I told a few of y'all (Mzungu for sure) at Mikes party how my Brother and his wife were about to move to Thailand for 6 months. Well... the going away party went great and they left on Wednesday the 12th (little too close to September 11th to fly if you ask me). They flew to Bangkok first and planned on staying there in a hotel for a few days before flying to Phuket on sunday (where they will be living for the remainder of their stay)

on Saturday night they stayed up way too late drinking and partying in Bangkok....got totally trashed....Sunday they're racing off to the airport trying to make their flight to Phuket.....this is the flight they were booked on.....

Thank god they missed their flight...I saw the crash on the news and nearly had a heart attack.

interesting fact, the last time they were there they left Phuket only one day before the tsunami hit, several people they knew were killed....hmmm...maybe someones trying to tell them something.

So thankful they are safe.   Moments like those are a reminder to keep each day important.    Wish them a safe trip and return.  Virginia

Any chance you could get them to buy a Lotto ticket ?

thats just way too much coincedence, they really should play the lotto, or just be happy that they are still here at all.

                        Re: Thank God for alcohol!

Thanks everyone. They feel very lucky to still be here and I too feel very lucky to still have a brother and sister in law. That being said, they were a bit shaken (to say the least) when they found out about the crash at the airport so they opted not to take the next flight to Phuket on the little budget tourist plane. Instead they went back to their hotel for another night and made arrangements the following day to fly first class on Thai airways in a very large jumbo jet.

Mzungu, I already knew they weren't on the plane when I saw the wreckage on TV (THANK GOD). My Brother called my Dad (cuz he knew he would be awake) at 5:30am to let him know he was OK then my Dad called me later then I called my Mom, etc..

Every time I saw the wreckage on the news I would start to freak out knowing how close I came to losing him.... I didn't feel better until I spoke with him in person later that day) yes everyone I am  a huge SAP for my Big Brother...he's my best friend! If I had seen the news before I heard from my Dad...well...I'de probably be in a straight jacket somewhere right now....

Phreak, Tiapan, I know what you mean they are extremely lucky, I just hope it never runs out! I'm not sure if there is a lottery in Thailand but if there is I'm positive My Brothers wife Sadie will be playing it... the girl is a gambling fool,LOL.

Loopy, Geoff, I know....it's crazy...every time they go to Thailand they narrowly escape DEATH

Virginia, Thanks.....I couldn't have said it better my self!

                        Mike..EK..thanks for your kind words...

Hanson, Coop, I'm with y'all but if everything you owned was in climate controlled storage, no rent to pay, you have a 6 month visa and a free place to stay here

                        would you leave???

Hmmm...by the looks of those pictures, I don't think I'd be going anywhere!

I think that if it is your time to die, you will die and nothing will change that. I guess it just wasn't their time in either situation. Thank God they are ok!

                            Absolutely beautiful.
If I ever made it there, I'd never want to leave.
