Wrong genre Roy. Harry was never considered reggae and I doubt he claimed to be reggae either. Whereas most reggae artists make music for the local carribean scene, Harry was concentrating on stage performances here in the States so had a certain show tunes quality to his music.
And thank God only Harry Belafonte sounds like Harry Belafonte. Don't get me wrong, he was a great musician, but his appeal has definitely waned over the years.

I cant lie. I'm not old enough, to know many and much about the bands and groups of that era. But growing up I did hear a lot of that style music from family memebers on my fathers side. I must say some of the old stuff does have it place still in my coloection of music. The brass band backup was always cool.
