I just wanted to comment about how much more enjoyable it is to chat on here than other fish websites. I think it is because just about everyone is from houston. Not sure why that woud make a huge difference since the chatting is going on online, but I think it does.

Re: houston based site
i think we really have a very diverse group of individuals on the box.....they come from all over the world but yet have found a equal medium thru the box....we all share a passion for our little finned loved ones and the information we share and discover on here is immense......it's just a southern place with alot of southern hospitality on here.....oh my goodness does that mean that we've all become "Texan Like"?....even the one's that aren't from Texas?....cool....i'm happy to know alot of the members on here....as well as those i've only talked too on here as well.....maybe one day we'll meet too.....but to all the boxers...i say....thanks for allowing me to share the space with you.....

Re: houston based site
Anyone ever tried to post a question on a computer website? OUCH. those kids are awful. Finding a good forum is hard as its so easy for people to just attack you rather than be nice and help. Fragile egos and shut ins seem to populate a lot of forums and chat rooms. Re: houston based site
I like the fact I can ask questions and no one makes me feel totally stupid :bswithstupid:
I also like the fact I have made some FanTABULOUS friends because of this... right Mike?
Because of one simple act of asking for fish for my tank at school, I now have 3 tanks at school (one holding two spit fulls of fry), and (counting 1, 2, 3...) I now have 12 tanks up and running (WITH FISH) here at the house ranging from 10 gallons to 75!!! The people here are AMAZING and generous and don't ever seem to tire of me asking to bargain lol. I love my HFB friends and my GHAC friends. I consider myself very blessed and it's all because of a website that is made of real genuine members from all walks of life.5.5 fw fluval chi - class N top bar snake chested endlers/ red marble bn/ 4 stripe RCS/ pumpkin shrimp

Re: houston based site
Most online forums are about people trying to impose their opinions it seems. Here you can actually get solid information and sound advice. Not that people don't throw in their $0.02 every once in a while (okay maybe a little more often than that) but I can treat this site like an archive of articles and go hunt down the info I need, or If I can't find it, order up a new article by starting a thread and asking a question.

Re: houston based site
I think part of the success of the HFB, is the general local of it's members and the ability for those members to meet ocassionally and get to know one another. We do have a few squabbles here and there, but for the most part, we all are here to discuss our accomplishments and or failures, and hopefully get some support from others who have gone thru it all before.
A lot of the more active members of the HFB, are also part of the newly formed Greater Houston Aquarium Club.
It's been a real treat for me to be part of the Box for the past 6 months or so......

LOL! Maybe we just know that it wouldn't be a far reach for someone to get angry with us and come out to our houses and beat us up! LMAO!!! J/K...
Yeah, I've been on other animal forums where people form these sort of alliances and gang up to attack the people that are just new and want to learn! The worst ones are anti-breeders on rabbit forums...they are seriously insane sometimes--and a lot of times they are the mods and will ban anyone who might disagree with them!!! It's a scary world out there...I'm just glad that I can always count on my cozy Fishbox!!!
