Hey, you have no idea how much it cost for child care out there, they have to pay their illegal nannies top dollar to watch them little ones. And do you have any idea how much a decent Valet/Butler makes these days, c'mon, give those writers a break wouldya...... :)
And, And, it's California baby....The state takes 11% of your income right off the top for State Income Taxes...so have a little sympathy for those who are making under 450,000.00 a year.

We dont have a state income tax but we do have a higher than average sales tax.. which I am MUCH happier to pay than state income tax.
Now I am going to side with Steve here... its important for those average broke writers who needs to make enough money for when they take time off from work can still have an income to sustain their living standards and also maintain the nanny's, gardners, lawn boys, pool boys and armed security who patrols the neighborhood. Again Steve you are correct.. earning a guaranteed salary of $450,000/yr for a writer by pay of residual income should be given to them... because if they write well for one show and the next one they stink they should not be punished for that.

To be honest, I think it pales in comparison to the fact that the dollar is dropping in value and I believe troubled times lay ahead of us. But then again, I don't care much for TV these days

Not sure why, but I get the feeling you into politics just a little.
As I get older and a tad bit wiser, I pay more attention to those who would dictate our future, yeah, you could say I'm watching the NWO dance their puppets back and forth..... :!:

I think y'all are kind of confused, actually. Writers don't make very much considering how much actors, decent directors, etc makes. Writers are definitely jipped in the business (don't know why they'd want to be writers, anyway...) and that's why they're fighting. Also...if everyone else is getting royalties from the online webisodes, why not the people who actually have a HUGE part in the episode's existence?
I dunno...I think they have a good reason to strike...but don't blame them for the amount of time they're on strike...blame the people of Hollywood not making a decent enough offer to compensate for the webisodes.

This is the average writers salary...some make 2 to 3 times this rate, so I hope this helps clear up the "confusion".

You think 200 grand per year is decent money for someone who not only lives in Cali but also for someone who is producing shows where some actors get paid twice that much per...episode?
According to bankrate.com, the percent increase to maintain standard of living between Houston, Tx and Los Angeles 78.75%. While it's still a lot when you figure all that math in, it's still not worthy considering how much everyone else with barely any talent at all get paid millions to do nothing...
They have a right to be on strike...Hollywood is selfish and if it takes the writers going on strike to get them to pull their heads out of their butts, then good for them.
