In the past I have started a regular website that had 2 or 3 pages using the yahoo services, but I am interested in starting a fitness forum. Can anyone give me a little advice on how to go about doing this. I get confused about whether i should buy the domain name from the same people that host the site. Do I need to find a specific company to host a forum? etc.

Re: How to start a forum website
I have seen duplicates of this format of forum on the web, it must be a standard, maybe you could contact a webhosting service and find out more from them....???

Re: How to start a forum website
Hey :) there are a couple of different ways to take care of this.
Here is what I would do if you want an inexpensive solution... Now I am a yahoo fan so please dont kill me when I start with them. There are a ton of other places you can go but I am going to use Yahoo for my suggestions.
On Yahoo goto their "small business" section
Choose "get a website"
You can sign up with the starter option for 8.96 a month (I think its 11.96 a month but for the first 2 months its 8.96)
Note you will go into the control panel and install phpBB which is the same forum software the HoustonFishBox uses.
You may need to upgrade if you run out of space at some point in the future.
You will get a domain name with the purchase.
If you need more or need to talk to me about this.. PM me and I will be more than happy to talk.

Good Luck with your site.....
Check out my personal website if you like.....my IT skills are pretty rusty, but I managed to publish one on my own a few months ago, it needs updating, but it was fun putting it together....
