  • cooling fan on laptops

Just wondering if anyone know whether changing a cooling fan on my laptop will be fairly simple or if its complicated?  Im think it would be a simple plug in, but wanted to check before I started buying parts and taking it apart.  Also, are there ways to upgrade to a better or larger fan?  the laptop is a Gateway model MA3( i think)

I've never been in one before, but I bet it will be a simple fix, once you have access to it.

It should be pretty easy. Hardest part would probably be getting to it, and after that it should be a matter of unscrewing and re-screwing. Good luck.

This is the only reason, why I am afraid of them.

All that heat in a tiny space.  Your desktops have all that space and larger fans to cool them that the heat does not get to them like laptops.

Unless your fan is completely dead, you could always go with something like this...

We have one for a Compaq notebook that used to get so hot it would shut itself down.  But using this cooling pad, it stays cool.  Just an option.

              Re: cooling fan on laptops

Last night when I turned on my laptop it had an error page and would not start up.  It said something about the fan not working, but it sems to be working now.  I have noticed lately that the fan seems to be running more, so it may not be at full strength.

I am going to look into gettong one of those.  thanks girlgeek.
