  • Bikers..........and I mean cyclists :)

I know we have a couple of roadies on this forum. Are there any MTBers? What do y'all ride? Last year my partner and I decided it was time to get into shape so we each bought both a road bike and a mountain bike. I enjoy road biking, but I LOVE mountain biking (though I pretty much suck at both.)

My partner got a Trek Madone 4.5 and a Trek Fuel EX8. My budget was a little more restrained so I decided on a Jamis Quest (LOVE steel!) and a Jamis Dakar XC Comp.

My current biking goals are building up endurance on the road bike and improving my skills on the MTB. We both belong to the Northwest Cycling Club and the Greater Houston Off Road Biking Association.

Last year I managed to lose 60lbs and I'm hoping for another 10-15lbs this year.

Lol....mountain biking is very fun ! But theres one problem here. Theres no mountain here no "real" trails. I used to race downhill out in California i had a 50 lb bike with over 8' travel front and rear. I also used to race bmx as well , had many top sponsors and wha not. But yea as far as places to really get out and hit up some cool trails i have no idea. Im used to the good trails. Post up some pics of the new bikes.

      Re: Bikers..........and I mean cyclists :)

Hence why the local club is called "off road" and not mountain

Personally I'd never downhill or free ride. I'm an XC girl, but I do love watching others do it.

PS 50lbs is one heavy bike!

Here's a link to all the local trails http://ghorba.org/trails

For the most part I ride Cypresswood because it's close to home or Riverbend because it's close to work. Our favorite trail is Double Lake because it's beautiful up there and our first love is bird watching, so it's a good spot for both. A lot of the guys head over to Austin where the riding is better, but we haven't done that yet. We've only had our MTBs since Oct.

I'd like to see your pics if you can find them. Sounds like you did some great riding!

Im from San Diego, we would travel up north a lil bit , east of La and there was a single mountain where we'd race.
