    Re: 9:20 thursday night

I agree...I hate that crap. The Brazos animal shelter in Bryan will put down ANYTHING that comes in and looks like it has Pitt in it. It breaks my heart. There was the sweetest little puppy who had a broken leg that put him in a LOT of pain, but they didn't do anything about it because he "looked like he is part pitt." It broke my heart. In Dallas we have a no-kill shelter that actually works with dogs who show aggressive behavior...it's awesome except that they seriously need money and way more room.

It hurts me because my dog has Pitt in her and she would've been put down if she was in Bryan :(

unfortunately aggressive animals can always revert back to their aggressive ways, which does make them a threat(at times).  However, puting down a dog because it has pitbull genes is retarded.  That is basically racism in animals.  Im my mind you are just as likely to be bit by a lab as you are a pit, its just that more pits are raised by idiots to be aggressive.  Just like humans, dont look at the kids or dogs look at the people raising them.

Exactly. Unfortunately, College Station is surrounded by a really poor area, so dog fighting is really popular. I swear, most of the kids I talk to only know the breed of pitt bull : /

          Re: 9:20 thursday night

OOH, you want a rescue story? I found my horse on the internet horse classifieds site and everything seemed pretty good! I asked the lady to send me more pictures and she did and he looked great! She said he was 15.1 hands tall and weighed 1250lbs and that he had to be sold because her kids wanted to get 4 wheelers in the ad so I was expecting this huge family horse... I even talked to her on the phone about him and she told me how gentle he was and how he was such a lover and how great his hooves were... Well, we arranged to meet her transporters in Lufkin to exchange him for an old truck we didn't need anymore. We got there and waited and they finally showed up, but what they pulled out of that trailer was NOTHING like what I saw in the ad and on the pictures!! He was the same horse, but nearly a shadow of what I saw in the pictures... He was only a little over 14 hands, maybe weighed 800lbs, and his feet were TERRIBLE!! I knew that I couldn't just leave him with those people to die, so I went ahead and took him home. I should have gotten pictures of him on that first day, but I was so depressed I could hardly even think. I think the only thing that the lady actually told the truth about was how gentle he is, but I'll take that over anything! I'll try to attach some pics...I hope they work!!

Here's a pic I got from the lady in an e-mail before I ever saw him in person!

Here's a pic of him after a month of me pouring the feed and hay to him! Imagine what he looked like when I first got him!!! He also had really bad rain rot that took me forever to get rid of!

And here's a pic I took of him today! He is a totally different horse now! I'm so proud of him...he has come such a long way and he is the sweetest horse ever! Sorry for the weird angle...he follows me everywhere and I had to snap the pic fast before he noticed I had hobbled away! LOL!

Man, I really hope these pics show up!!

            Re: 9:20 thursday night

He's a gorgeous horse. He's lucky to have you :)

My baby girl was abandoned by her owners for 3 weeks in their house. Like they just up and left her and their neighbor happened to be my step dad's boss who knew we had just lost one of our dogs to cancer. We went over there and Maggie was absolutely adorable, but as soon as we got her in the car, you could tell she had been abused in the past. She had been starved when the owners were gone and she lived in the filthiest house ever (I can post pictures later if you want to see), but luckily we didn't have to see all that because my step dad's boss had her for about a week before we got there. She immediately started shaking and refused to stop leaning right up against me. When we got her home, she kind of creeped around and when we tried to put her outside, she curled up in a tiny ball and started peeing.

My step dad wanted to give her back, but I told my mom he'd have to go through me first...and now we've had her for 3 years and she's the best dog we've ever had. There are still some things that she can't stand...like when I go back to school. She hates seeing me pack. She acts like I'm killing her by doing so. We're finally able to leave her inside when we leave for the day without her freaking out the whole time because she knows we'll come back. But during the night, she makes her rounds to everyone in the house where she kisses their hands to make sure they're still there. It's so sad. She's such a wonderful dog. It kills me that anyone could treat her so horribly.

              Re: 9:20 thursday night

Awwww... She sound so sweet! Thanks for the complements on my horse!!! I love him to death--even if he did get spooked and throw me off! LOL!! It was really a freak accident!! LOL!

My dog Banjo was also abandoned by some people who lived in our neighborhood. A friend of mine said that she saw him tied up in the yard for several weeks and the people had already gone and didn't even tell anyone... They also left a bunch of cats locked up in their trailer, but it was too late to save any of them by the time we realized the people had left. They were all dead... Banjo kept coming over to our house and playing with our lab through the fence and then eating our catfood...so, one day I saw him running up to the fence and I set out some wet dog food for him because he was skin and bones... Well, I got him to go in our yard, fed him up, got him fixed, and we've had him ever since! He's so adorable and just loves everyone in our family, but he too has some really bad issues. If you make any sudden movements around him he will cower and yelp like you hit him. He also hates strangers and will bite men that he doesn't know. We keep him in the backyard with the lab, so he doesn't have the chance to see many strangers, but we know when someone is in the yard!! LOL!

Here's a pic of my Banjo. We suspect that he is a Rat Terrier. :)

                Banjo is absolutely adorable!!!

There's the baby girl. Excuse her nudity, I was just too lazy to upload a new pic of her and that was one of the few I already had of her on my photobucket. We think she's Pitt and Rhodesian Ridgeback (she's got a little crooked ridge on her neck which you can see below). We think the Pitt because of her face and ears. She's an amazing little girl. I love her to death. In fact, she's curled up right next to me right now :)

That pic is of her meeting my ex boyfriend's cat...who HATED her. She wanted so hard to love on him, but he refused. LOL! Poor MooMoo :(

LOL! Banjo is so strange... he pretty much hates every other animal except for his Abby...LOL! He loves to play with her! He will just tackle her and bite her ankles and she tolerates it all! LOL! Here's a pic of them playing at our old house. He's hugging her neck in the pic...and it looks like he's also biting her ear LMAO! He's such a character!

                  LOL1 and here's a pic of Abby...she's so cute! She's Banjo's idol, I think!

Had to put one out myself the other day....rabid looking stray climbed the fence into our yard...where I have been keeping two of my baby sister's rabbits....was able to save one of them but the other didn't make it.......one is alive though, not in the best shape but alive....thanks to walther p22 and gemtech.

                      Ouch, ek...that sounds sad :(

Rebekah, my Maggie and little dachshund Ticker are the same way. Although Ticker was here first, so he tries to let Maggie know he's top dog here. She'll be lying on the floor and he'll want to play so he goes up to her and starts chewing on her neck or pulling on her ears. She's so tolerant...all she'd have to do is bite him once, but she never does. She puts up with so much crap from him. LOL!

I love cats, but my parents hate them

Otherwise, we'd have a couple of those running around here, too. Hehe

Awww... I love my cats! Too bad they keep getting eaten by mangy dogs... UGH!! Raul, those are some of the prettiest cats I have ever seen!! Our cats are ones that we either found abandoned or were given because they needed a home. We've lost 3 out of 6 so far...but I haven't counted in a few days so it might be more now...:( I hate those dogs... We have actually gained a new stray, but it only comes up to eat and then runs away again. I've seen it only twice and it's very cute! It's all black with white feet! It looks kinda like it walked through deep, white paint. LOL! It's very skittish though.

LOL! You must go through a lot of lasagna, Raul!! HAHAHA!!

My horse, Scooby Doo, acts just like the cartoon character that he was named after! If he's not eating, he's thinking about eating!! He is sooo funny! Yesterday when I was trying to take pics of him, he kept trying to come up and eat the camera...I guess that's what I get for giving him apples all the time LMAO!! He's more like a dog than a horse too... You can always tell when he's thinking about food because he drools...yeah, drools... Ask Mike...he's seen him drool over an apple! LOL! It cracks me up every time! He was also trying to eat the camera case, my crutches' handles, and his brush that I had in my hand. LOL! He's a pig on hooves!
