  • Water Cost ??

Ok, let's see what your paying for water and how much your using.
Apparently my little town is making a killing off water. My last bill was 266 units at .46 per unit.
Neighbor only used 47 and was charged .54 per unit.

Water is cheap anyways... unless you have 37 kids (johnny). Haha. It cost my old man $200 to fill up a pool in houston. But a lot of cities have a minimum they charge so if you don't meet the minimum your bill wouldn't change from month to month and you would end up spending more per unit of water

Water is only cheap if you're not the one paying the bill or don't water your yard.

Maybe you're single or don't have children. $40 is about what ours costs in the winter and we only have one 65g tank.

Don't know, there's 4 of us here and it's never that cheap in the summer.

Maybe my teenagers go through more clothes or baths or we water more often. I do at least an 80% water change once a week.

Did some more research on my bill. The city charges 11.98 for the first 1500 gallons and then some crazy number for every 1000 after that. Apparently we used 26k gallons last month. The bill didn't specify what each unit was so I was reading it like each gallon. I'll be investing in alternate water very soon.(thread to come)

26k isn't unrealistic. If you've got a big family and a lot of fish tanks it's easy to hit that mark. Not to mention if you wash your car often or water the lawn or a garden.

We have a garden now, about 345 gallons in water changes, and the kids were playing in the shower. Apparently 9K is standard for a small family.
I've got an older house too so the toilet / shower runs more water than the newer stuff. I also think one of the toilets had the chain stuck last month.

We have a high water bill. With 4 adults and one little girl. 6 tanks, hot tub, and kiddy pool. I pay about $50.00 a month.

This is where apartment life is nice, water/trash/pest all in one bill. So far the highest has been like 30.00
But its split between all the units, so i dont even keep track of how much water i use. Figure i go thru about 300 gal a week just in water changes for tanks alone...!!
