  • Livingston - Shad Running

Up at the state park for a few days. Its 50 degrees!! I went to catch some bait and the shad look like they are on a highway following this bulkhead. Took a video but not certain it came out. Caught 16 smaller catfish last night plus all the throw backs. Looks like the big boys are out there now.

We usually go to Browders Marina and put in. That's next to the dam and we fish a couple of the bulk heads near deep water. This time*we*got one of the premium spots at the Livingston state park. Its 11ft deep against the bulkhead.

        We use fresh shad.

Sounds like fun I need to get into freshwater more. Only fish I've caught limits on in freshwater are crappie, white bass, largemouth, and catfish. Only caught one striped in my life and I was trout fishing in seabrook.

After the latest TPW advisory warning about eating fish from the Galveston bay complex it might be time to find a nice clean freshwater fishing hole.

My uncle got a place on point blank and and the lake is right in his backyard we fish right off his neighbors dock I've seen them pull in monsters out of the backyard the water drops to 4ft low 6 ft hi and out at the end of dock it gets pretty deep since the shad are running we just throw casting nets in te backyard and plenty of catfish every throw

Lol. That's a bunch of bologna man. Those advisories have been there since the 90s. I've eaten thousands of pounds of fish since those advisories and I'm fine. The survey sample was small and the sample of contaminated fish was a very small percentage. They have to issue those advisories because even if one fish has it, they have to warn. I will say this though. One time I filleted a trout and the meat was neon yellow and it smelled like antifreeze or something. Went straight to the trash.

Josiah was wondering what that third arm growing out of his side was. You know, the one to hold the fish while you are throwing that bait again until you can get him on the stringer. Comes in handy.

Spent three days at the lake. Ended up with 59 catfish and lots of throw backs. People camping next to us caught 35 white bass one day. Last morning out we saw a group of fish near a bulk head that looked like trout tearing up the water.
