Metro Rail Riders Beware

I catch the rail about four times a week or more. Well this week I felt on two different occasions that people were trying to steal from me. I ride my road bike from my apt to the rail station so it stays with me. This past Tuesday I was a little distance away and two guys saw the bike and started talking out loud about how they were gonna take it and how much they could get for it. It made me laugh because although I was away from the bike I was the only person close to them and they assumed it wasn't mine. That is until I started staring at them. I let it be known that it was my bike. This past Thursday something happened and I think it's the way people steal phones. Two young dudes looked like they were exiting the rail and I was sitting down listening to music and reading my book when one guy urgently asks me to borrow my phone like there was some sort of rush. While the guy is standing there asking for my phone the other is standing in the door not allowing it to close. I caught on to what they were trying to do so I told the guy he couldn't use my phone. So if you guys are riding the rails don't lend out phones and never put personal property out of sight. Out of sight out of mind. They have some schemers riding everyday.

I dont ride the rail, but thanks for the tips in case I do one day. Be aware of your surroundings and if you have a CHL carry.

With this particular incident nothing. But IF something worse was to happen you should be prepared.

My brother was robbed by 3 people and one of them pointed a gun to his head for his wallet and phone at a bus stop. Who is to say the same thing WONT happen at the Metro Rail?

ok very true but having a CHL does not automatically mean you will be able or even have the where with all to pull that gun so in my opinion and again this is just my opinion having a CHL does not and will not give you the balls to use said gun.

Are those allowed on Metro? I don't know about the laws governing public transportation. One thing I will say is that they have cameras everywhere. Don't think random phone thefts would get much attention. But an armed robbery should get a thorough investigation.

I don't ride the bus or rail, but if there isn't a 30.06 sign posted then you are legally allowed to conceal carry.
