    Re: computer network

Are you sure your version of windows XP supports networking? Windows ME used to support networking but my student and teachers version of XP does not. At least I don't think it does. You need a server or something with server software. Maybe there are some real experts around that can explain this to us?

      Re: computer network

if you have an ether net port on both, you can use a standard ether net cable to connect them, then you should be able to use the network connection wizard in the control panel to assist you with communications for "seeing" the other and transfering data.

        Re: computer network

Either way, ethernet or wireless, your going to have to make a HOME NETWORK and set the two lap tops up as part of a network. It's alot easier for me to do...then tell, it's been a while, but it isnt' that hard, like everything else with the pc, its a matter of knowing where to access the wizards or programs that will assist you in accomplishing your goals.

        Good Luck.

OH,....and you may have to change your security setting if your using XP, your firewall probably wont let you share drives without changing your security settings.
