  • My Son's BDay Fishing at Sargent, TX

Today is my son's 5th Bday so I "had" to take him fishing because that is his favorite thing to do. We went down to Sargent and fished the surf for a little while this morning. My plan was to hook him up with a couple sharks because there are so many out there right now. The shad were running but weren't too bad. First throw of the cast net and I had about 15 the size of my hand. Nothing spectacular caught today but he had a good time.

The red was 36" and was the last one before we headed home. He was pretty tired at that point.

Side NOTE: Sharks were crazy early in the morning. I think I set off a feeding frenzy and saw about 6 large sharks ripping through the schools of shad. My first cast must have hit one in the mouth because it took off before I could engage the reel.
