  • More fishing questions: bait/lures

So I've been to Academy, Bass Pro and Walmart looking for lures to catch redfish, speckled trout and flounder. I bought a pack of rootbeer colored DOA shrimp and some jig heads but I don't know what to put on the jigs. I have read, and read...and read through fishing forums and online reviews and cant find a consistency is what to use. Can anybody help?

Are there certain variables for each lure? (Water color, depth, time of day, etc?)

I would take the DOA back. That's more of a summer time lure for night fishing under the lights or fishing the surf. Right now I use mostly texas tackle factory baits. Trout killers and red killers. Who dat is my favorite color for trout killer and bone and pumpkinseed is my favorite red killer. I use almost exclusively 1/8 ounce jig heads. Try to match the jig head with the tail color on the bait or just use a plain lead color. Too much to mention about color and water but bone and strawberry are universal colors. Who Dat and something like pumpkinseed or root beer work in green water.

All the flounder except one was caught on Berkeley gulp chartreuse swimming mullet with 1/4oz jigheads

Nice. December couldn't get here any sooner. I don't bother in November anymore.
