The only shows I've seen on Food Network are Iron Chef and Bizarre Foods. What's the premise of the show, maybe I can think of a few.

on the show they go around the country and find the little hole inthe walls.  mom and pop foods that knock your socks off good.  diners, bbq joints, and stuff like that.  just down home good places to eat that arent big companys or anything like that.  no olive gardens but say pops bbq on the corner of nowwhere and your hoood.

Ahhhh... one that immediately comes to mind is Bibas One's a meal. I think it's on West Gray. Greek place that I think is open 24 hours. Mai's is another good one. I think it's on Milam. Vietnamese type food that people-who-don't-like-Vietnamese food don't mind eating, I've found. They close at 2 or 3 so they're both good places to hit after a concert or something. And of course tons of places in Bellaire area.

I know of several places to go eat cheap that are good.. most of them are located off Bellaire.
One of my favorite spots to go is House of Bowl, Shin Shin, Hong Kong Food Market, Sabai (They have display tanks in this place nothing big but always interesting) and many more.  Then again I work around the corner from there and I go there often.

they actually filmed one of the shows at a place on welborn road in College Station. My mom was in the restaraunt at the time for the filming she was one of the people they questioned about the food. it was funny because it was some type of philly cheesesteak and she told them it was delicious well i could tell from the look on her face it was not good at all. she said it was one of the worst she had ever eaten. just my story.

Now that is funny :)   Btw another good place to go.. Thelma's BBQ just off downtown.  Go Saturday morning..  BEFORE 11am...   Their BBQ is some of the best but their rule is.. once they are out, they go home.. they dont cook more.  Come back tomorrow.
